# EU AI content-labelling rules, and what they mean for advertisers

New EU rules push transparency for AI-generated content: providers have to mark AI output in a machine-readable way, and, in many cases, that content has to be disclosed to the people who see it. For advertisers, this quietly turns a creative decision into a compliance one.

## Why metadata suddenly matters
Platforms increasingly detect AI-generated images, video and audio automatically. They read the file's metadata, and they read invisible watermarks baked into the pixels, like Google's SynthID. If your creative is AI-generated and stripped of that context, or mislabelled, you're not flying under the radar, you're just less predictable to the platform: reduced reach, review flags, or removal.

## What this means in practice
- Treat AI-generated creatives as declared, not hidden. Label them, and keep the provenance metadata intact through your production pipeline.
- Don't scrub metadata to "clean up" a file. That's now the exact information platforms and regulators expect to find.
- Build the disclosure into your process, not as an afterthought per campaign.

## How we handle it
We treat provenance and labelling as part of the deliverable, not paperwork bolted on at the end. It is a natural fit for how we already make [content and creative](https://www.argnode.com/en/services/seo/content): human-made, AI-assisted, and labelled honestly. If a creative is AI-assisted, it ships labelled and with its metadata intact, so it behaves predictably on every platform and stays on the right side of the rules.
